Groenplaats did not get his name because of its color but because it used to be a cemetery called groenerkerkhof. When they redid the square and the underground parking spots they dug up the graves.

In 1803 the Groenplaats was a poor mans cemetery. It's known that with the destruction of the cemetery the workforce wasn't so precise. So it's possible that under you are still some bodies... Boo!

Another beautiful square of Antwerpen with a lot of meeting places. From this place you can see the famous cathedral Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal and the statue of Peter Paul Rubens.
